Trotternish Ridge

This is the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

While traversing the Isle of Skye in 2022, I followed the Trotternish Ridge, which more or less forms the backbone of the island. The conditions were far from ideal. Throughout the trip, I was constantly battered by harsh weather, with heavy rain, hail, and strong winds rolling across the ridge.

By the end of the day, I was completely soaked. I eventually found a small stone wall marking the edge of a farmer’s land and managed to pitch my tent beside it to get some protection from the elements.

Honestly, I felt like just staying inside the tent and calling it a day. But before settling in, I decided to head out one last time to get water and explore the ridge a little more. I’m very glad I did.

Walking toward the edge of the ridge, I suddenly came across this incredible view - dramatic low-hanging clouds rolling across steep green cliffs dropping toward the ocean below. That’s where I took this photo.

It’s usually the worst weather conditions that create the best photos.
