I love winter. Winter brings a certain peace and cleanliness to nature when everything is covered in a blanket of pure white snow.
I was out snowshoeing for a couple of days along the Haute Route in the Swiss Alps, and this trip became a great example of how not everything goes to plan. Just days earlier, I had to abandon my original route and be picked up by helicopter after several plans failed due to extremely soft snow, escape routes blocked by ice, and me getting extremely sick and weak in a very short amount of time.
After taking a couple of days off to recover, I knew I had to keep going - partly to avoid ending the trip anticlimactically, but also to regain some self-confidence. So I climbed over the Col de Torrent to continue the journey for a few more days.
Early one morning, high up in the mountains, I took this drone photo. I love the simple color palette of white and blue, and the shadows cast by the rugged peaks across the snow-covered landscape.
