In October 2022, I hiked part of the Alta Via 2 route through the Dolomites in Italy. It was the very start of autumn, and all of the mountain huts had already closed for the season. The trails were extremely quiet, yet the weather was beautiful, and the scenery this late in fall felt absolutely perfect.
On the very first day, I accidentally took the wrong trail. I was supposed to be much lower down on the mountain, but instead I ended up on this ridgeline. It turned out to be a very good mistake, because from lower down I would never have realized how dramatic this mountain looked.
I launched my drone and captured a couple of beautiful shots, including this one in the late afternoon light.
