A black sand beach in Iceland.
Iceland is definitely a land of extremes, with probably the highest density of mind-blowing landscapes in the world. From volcanoes to waterfalls, green canyons, glaciers, and of course, beaches covered in black sand, almost every part of the country feels unreal.
On my very last night in Iceland, I decided to spend one more night wild camping. I drove to a remote beach on the Reykjanes Peninsula that I had spotted earlier on Google satellite view and decided to sleep there for the night among the dunes.
I laid down my Tyvek groundsheet directly on the black sand and put my sleeping bag on top. I wouldn’t say it was the best night of sleep, but the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach and the wind moving through the dunes was absolutely mesmerizing.
In the morning, I woke up when it started raining and quickly packed everything up. Luckily, the rain arrived in the morning and not during the night.
